Angela Burson is a visual artist who currently lives and works in Savannah, Georgia. Her main painting themes are headless people, their personal objects and interior spaces that indicate complex psychological and social relationships with one another. Throughout her career, anachronistic images of fashion objects and personal objects are prominent through her paintings. Particularly, “I am interested in the surreal connection between realistic subject matter and flat repetitive pattern.“, Angela explains.
The objects that are painted through her work are often come from existing family photographs. Fashion objects – like shirts, empty suits or suitcases – are prominent through her paintings. “The subtlety of the closely rendered detail is intended to provide the viewer insight into layers of meaning.” she explains. “[…] the viewer sees the clothed body not as a portrait but as a collection of objects, and patterns. I am interested in the surreal connection between realistic subject matter and flat repetitive pattern“.
Angela Burson
Angela Burson is an artist born in Liberty, Missouri. The main techniques that she is engaged with are painting, drawing, sculpture, and needlework. Angela holds a BFA degree from Savannah College of Art and Design.
Her work has been exhibited in several places including New York and Los Angeles. Early next year a group exhibition having also Burson’s work will be presented in Hashimoto Contemporary, between 10 and 31 January under the name Doggone Delightful.
