In fact, Bell depicted 2,549 basketball courts. “Over the course of 140 shooting days, I photographed all 2,549 outdoor basketball courts in Hong Kong.” he explains. Now he is in the process of creating the related book covering over 40 thousand pictures.
Through his photos, Bell identified ways to see the city (and any city) in a different way. “This city is infinitely interesting, cool, and visual.” he says. “I want people to find their own anchors to both display Hong Kong and explore it“.

“I am a photographer, court hunter, birder and writer from North Carolina but generally peripatetic.” Austin describes in his statement. “My work centers around large-scale collection and showcasing novel perspectives, frequently aerial, of landscapes and architecture“. Apart from Hong Kong’s basketball courts in a outdoor installation, he has also photographed courts from around the world including New York, Mexico City and Italy.
