Five Reasons People Decorate Their Bodies
Everyone you will ever meet has a story. Whether you are walking past seniors on the street or you are looking at the way that teenagers talk and act today compared to when you were at school, you can bet that most of the people you meet will have a piercing or a tattoo hidden somewhere. One can see people of different backgrounds, beliefs and colors wherever around. However, this is a way that people define themselves as independent and individual.

You can’t always see when someone has been to Piercing Mania – piercings aren’t just for the face, you know! You can’t always see when people are tattooed either. These are two of the most popular things that people get to show off their individuality. One of the biggest questions that people ask, however, is why people choose to wear their art rather than hang it on the wall. It’s a good question, and we’ve got five of those answers for you below:
1. You want to be a little different.
There are many people out there that will tell you all about their plans to get a tattoo or a piercing at some stage of life. It’s more of a norm these days to have a tattoo rather than not have one, but not all decorative tattoos are visible ones. There are a great many cultures that choose to have piercings and tattoos and all of them have influenced the Western world.
2. Symbolism.
There is a whole movement of art through history called symbolism, and when people choose to get a tattoo, they do so for the symbolism! They want to create a memory and have it drawn onto their own skin, and this way, they can keep it forever. There are some decorative tattoos that are booked with friends, or as part of a team. It’s why marines get matching tattoos – to remember each other. Some girls get a matching belly piercing with their friends, too, to remember important moments in high school. They know they’ll be able to look back on that piercing and remember the moment they got it.
3. Cultural reasons.

It might not make much sense to you to have gold earrings pierced through the entire length of the ears, but often you’ll find that these are cultural and related to family history or a history of the country they’re from. Piercings are popular in certain cultures as much as tattoos are – think the tattoos on the New Zealand rugby team as an example!
4. Style. Some body piercings have become a trend.
From nipple piercings to nose rings, there are some piercings that are booked for fashion reasons. You might see them or hear of them in the magazines or on TV, but they will look fantastic.
5. It’s pretty!
Why not wear the art you want on your body? Does it have to be something you hang on the walls? Absolutely not! You can wear your art and you’ll find that it’s something you can remember special moments by!
