Oil Paintings by Cristi López
Cristi López is a painter and illustrator based in Chicago. She focuses on large-scale oil paintings and tries to depict factious stories and customs through them. With this in mind, she explains that “Stories have always been essential to my creative expression. Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of being exposed to myths and folktales across cultures, as well as biblical stories from my Catholic upbringing“.
Art and Women
As an oil painting artist, López has a strong connection with femininity. “As for the role of women in illustration, I can only speak for myself. My work is feminine because I am, but it does not aim to comment on femininity and womanhood as a whole. No two women are the same; we will all draw from different experiences.” she explains. This is evident through her oil paintings.
Cristi López Bio
Even though she currently lives and works in Chicago, Cristi López was born and raised in Florida. “I am a first-generation American of Dominican, Spanish, and Cuban descent“. This has affected the way she paints, including the narratives that go through her paintings. She holds an Illustration degree from Ringling College of Art and Design and her work is exhinited globally. The result is impressive. Enjoy.
