LSC House, Porto, Portugal

Porto is the second largest city of Portugal. LSC House resides in the center of Porto, and was fully refurbished by Alexandre Loureiro Architecture Studio. Originally, the building was a 19th century installation and there were two separate buildings.

[After the intervention the] defined space in between the two built volumes is used as a secluded garden” the architect suggests. Consequently, there are two floors dividing the social part of the house from the private one. It is a very singular building, regarding its morphology.

Formerly, the site served to house a sculptor’s home, atelier and workshop. Later, a small industry occupied the building. The idea behind this renovation was to maintain the industrial typology and legacy of the building. The beauty of this project is to give back a unique building to the city in a central area. The result is impressive. Enjoy.
