Ransom Ashley
Born in Shreveport, LA , Ransom Ashley is a photographer, actor, and cinematographer. He attended Parsons The New School for Design in New York City where he was concentrating on photography. In addition, Ransom has shown work internationally and been included in shows at the New Britain Museum of American Art, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and Masur Museum of Art, among others. He has also been featured in select publications such as Teen Vogue, Parallel Magazine, Ignant Magazine, Metal Magazine, and Dazed and Confused Magazine. Ashley is currently working on a collaboration with Italian artist and fashion designer Nicola Romagnoli. In fact, they is set to appear alongside Oscar Winning Actress Holly Hunter in the upcoming southern drama Strange Weather.
Virgins Series
Vibrant, yet at the same time melancholic, the series portrays solitude and confinement. Apart form the above, Virgins series identifies feelings as in each photograph the face is exposed. “In my Virgins series, which was my first body of work, I poured a lot of the isolation I felt during my teenage years into it: the uncertainty, the finding of myself, the angst and sometimes contemplation with my own mortality.” Ransom Ashley describes about the series.
