Sally West

Sally West is an Australian artist based at Sydney. She has exhibited her in Australia but also in Europe and the United States. In fact, she has numerous awards throughout her career in a lifespan of 40 years. Through her paintings she creates a textural surface, by using thick paint.

Beach Studies

Her latest series, Beach Studies, was a landscape painting performed at Freshwater Beach – a popular location for surfers. She depicted wonderfully the actual scenery of the beach, the swimmers, the surfers. In addition, West used actual paint for the details of her paintings and the outcome is outstanding. By placing colours one on top of the other she created the actual setting, like every colour was actually there. The result is impressive. Enjoy.
