Midnight Modern by Tom Blachford
This is the second article about Tom Blachford, a Melbourne photographer who shots landscapes with vivid colours. The first article, Aerial Summertime, had beaches from above as a theme. This one has a completely different theme, homes in Palm Springs a desert resort city in California; sea versus desert.
The series was taken almost by accident. “My girlfriend and I were visiting Palm Springs after a trip to Cuba and Mexico in 2013. We knew that it would be beautiful to see the houses and the mountains, but were not prepared for just how amazing it is.“
“Palm Springs has been seen in a huge amount of imagery, but almost always during the bright sunshine,” said the photographer. “My hope for the series was to create a cinematic aesthetic for the homes to be viewed not just as buildings, but structures that have been the sets for countless scenes and stories.” Blachford suggested. His goals has been defibetelly realised. Enjoy.
