Mara Light’s Portraits
Mara Light was born in New York though she moved and raised in Southern California at the age of three. As her parents are closely related to art it was easier for her to follow her passion and become a painter. “Painting seemed very natural to me since my early years growing up.” she explains. She has a BFA from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena focused in conceptual art.
Although she studied painting, and as a result she was taught aspects of realism. After almost two decades of her graduation “I have had to unlearn everything I taught myself“. One could identify her personal struggle to find other ways to express herself. Realism and abstraction co-exist in her work and this is evolution. Enjoy.
