The house resides in Safed, in the Northern of Israel having the highest altitude from all the cities in Galilee. Situated in 900 meters above the sea is one of the Four Holly Cities since 16th century. Due to its mild climate and scenic views, Safed is a popular resort for both locals and foreigners.

As the house has been built in the old city of Safed, architects Henkin Irit and Shavit Zohar needed to fully redesign the existing installation. “The web of crowded housing of old stone buildings in the old quarter of Safed is a complex context dictating a dialogue between the old and the new, between preservation and renewal and between the traditional and the trendy.” the architect suggests. “The design of the house presents the old via original lime-stones, arches, vaults and niches, while the new gets represented by materials such as concrete, mosaics, steel and tin threshing, as well as transparent and semi-transparent glass“. The result is noteworthy. Enjoy.
