What Can One $ Dollar Buy Around the World?
Most of us know how to budget a month’s money, or use a monthly salary abroad but how many could identify what is a dollar’s worth worldwide? Lonely Planet asked its readers what a single dollar could buy in their countries. The results are at least unanticipated. In Nepal one could get a whole meal, in Italy – surpisingly – a whole (cheap) bottle of wine, in Paris a mere 40% of a Starbucks coffee. Of course there is the lifestyle and the GDP of each country that created this outcome, but there are also factors that are not fully related with the results such as a production of an in a particular country or lack of an ingredient. If you go to any of these countries you should know from now one. Enjoy.
