Lauren Brevner is an artist originally from Vancouver, BC but based in Osaka, Japan. She needed to to re-engage with her roots having origins from Japan. Last fall she travelled to New York to expand her skills and to show her work. A very recent exhibition – East Meets West, presented by Artlink Canada, ended last week in Vancouver. It was “[…] a group exhibition celebrating cutting-edge contemporary paintings from Beijing and Vancouver“.
In general, Brevner paints female portraits. Her techniques vary using mostly oil, acrylic, and resin to create her paintings. She also uses Japanese collage techniques such as chiyogami, yuzen, and washi paper on wooden panels. Indeed within her work East Meets West. Enjoy.
