Mikkel Jul Hvilshøj is a still-life photographer focusing in advertising and editorial assignments. Currently, he is based in Copenhagen. Although he worked in other disciplines, photography caught his attention. For the past 15 years uses his camera to capture photographs. Food Deconstructed was one of his projects. He compartmentalize food and then he captured it wonderfully.

“I didn’t grow up in a darkroom or have relatives with a great interest in photography. It wasn’t until I was 23 that I decided to become a photographer.” Mikkel explains. “I had worked in a shipping company in Dubai, before going back to Denmark to attend college to study economics. It didn’t last long, though, […] While in Dubai I had bought my first SLR camera, a Minolta of questionable quality“. And it all started from this SLR camera.
In this project he created visual food recipes by placing all ingredients and relevant kitchen tools in one image. This visual representation is much easier for the one that is going to prepare these recipes making the process more accessible. Fish, omelettes, pasta, desert are all there. The result is impressive. Enjoy.
