Different Cuisines around the World by Christine Rode
Christine Rode is a Norwegian designer that currently lives in San Francisco, CA. As a designer has the freedom to try a variety of techniques until her projects are ‘perfect’ to be delivered. “I seek to design delightful experiences for screens, paper, and everything in between” she explains.
In this project Rode tried, and successfully photographed, a series that depicts different cuisines around the world. The twist of it all is that the dishes from these distinctive styles of cooking are not prepared, rather the core ingredients are photographed prior to the cooking. A related article were featured on EWAT some time ago having as topic breakfasts around the world, though the main difference was that the breakfasts were prepared.
By examining these cooking styles, one could identify differences and similarities. Some ingredients, such as red pepper or dried onion, are core ingredients in many cuisines as opposed to corn that is only in Mexican or salmon in Scandinavian cuisines. Great information that is aesthetically great for its audience. Enjoy.
