Joyce Polance Paintings
Joyce Polance is originally from New York. While painting, she uses mainly oil as a medium. Her studies were from Fashion Institute of Technology, New York getting her Bachelors of Fine Arts. Moreover, she attended Wesleyan University, Middletown. Although from New York she has been living and working in Chicago for over 20 years. Her work has been featured in Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Reader. Private collections such as Commonwealth Edison and Deloitte have also have their work.
“The women I paint look to each other for deep personal connections […] By depicting the range of emotions that ensue as they open themselves up to new encounters – tenderness, sexual tension, jealousy, sadness, anger, loneliness – my paintings suggest that where there is closeness, there is often turmoil. […] I paint the women naked to suggest their willingness to be vulnerable […]” explains about her paintings. Polance is represented by Addington Gallery in Chicago and Blue Gallery in Three Oaks, Michigan. The result is impressive. Enjoy.
