Jonathan Yeo Portraits
Jonathan Yeo was born in Britain and over the years became expert in drawing portraits. Yeo was responsible for drawing some of the best known people such as Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, George W. Bush, Tony Blair, David Cameron and Damien Hirst. “Like Turner strapping himself to the ship’s mast in order to create a true likeness of a storm, time and time again he achieves what should be impossible: creating a true picture, an image or a glimpse, of people we think we know and those we’ve never met.” Damien Hirst stated in 2013.
It is remarkable that Yeo is self-taught in painting at his twenties while being treated for cancer. That was just after his sudden end of his studies in Film at Kent University when Hodgkins Lymphoma was diagnosed. His work has been exhibited in many places, London being the most prominent in 2013 exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery accompanied by a major monograph and a BBC1 Culture Show special. The latest exhibition was in Manchester’s The Lowry earlier in 2014. Enjoy.
