Georgy Kurasov was born in St. Petersburg in 1958 and still lives and works in the same place. In 1977 he entered the sculpture department of the Academy of Arts and he did not finish until six years later. These years were the years for his formation creating long lasting relationships, still intact. From his site there is something very interesting about himself: “Americans see Georgy Kurasov as a Russian artist, Russians as an American artist. Painters think he is a sculptor. Sculptors are sure he is a painter.” This is true as he expresses many forms of himself through his paintings.
His main setting is women, beautiful, even sensual women. But there is also elegance about the women he paints. And this is the main difference between sexy and sensual. Between fancy and elegant. The way he paints is unique and I am not sure there is a movement or style it goes with it. But it is wonderful. Enjoy.
[…] Georgy Kurasov is a Russian painter having as focus women. Although he is not in a specific movement or style per se he has some elements of cubism with vibrant colours. Definitely one to watch. […]
