Ships from Above by Dirk Brömmel
Dirk Brömmel is a German photographer having varied degrees focusing in photography and design but has also influences in liberal and fine arts. He has numerous awards the latest being the “European Architectural Photography Prize 2011” in 2011. This project is called “kopfüber”, translated literally as “upside down”, having as subjects actual ships.
In the first settings he was focused on cargo ships and later in passenger ships and smaller ones. The result is impressive as it is very hard for one to get the feeling of this view of the ship, like being a bird flying above it. In addition, having intense colours as background the subject of every instalment is prominent. Having this view and this processing, each photograph becomes unique on its way. Enjoy.
