Neutral Bay House Fully Refurbished, New South Wales, Australia
The architectural office that was accredited for full refurbishment was Downie North Architects. It is Daniel North and Catherine Downie both having distinction in their degrees and has A+ Member of the Australian Institute Of Architects. The area, Neutral Bay, is a suburb of Northern Sydney having the former name of the bay itself. It features many quality shops, restaurants and cafes and by browsing some photos of the bay it definitely needs a closer look.
The Neutral Bay House was built somewhere in the 1920’s though almost 100 years later the refurbishment needed to be in a structural rather than aesthetic way. The goal was to accommodate the needs of a young family. They needed to enjoy sunlight, to have readily access to the garden and in general to use every inch of the house. The objectives for the client were fully met: the result is astonishing. The wide glass partitions were the trick to allow sunlight in the house. When opened, the garden becomes part of the house as the family expressed from the beginning. In adition to that the furniture matches perfectly with the surroundings of the house. Daniel and Catherine did their magic. Enjoy.
