Rippon House, Upper North Shore, Sydney, Australia
Gerry Rippon from Towell & Rippon was the architect who designed this house, completed in 1971. Rippon studied architecture at the University of Sydney. He worked in several Australian firms until he formed his own one and remained there until his retirement of the profession. He has created from modest cottages to multi storied installations throughout Australia. His design philosophy was “every project is treated as unique and is therefore approached with a fresh and unprejudiced outlook, with no ‘universal solutions’ for particular building types in mind”. This is what he did for his own house and he did wonderfully. Trisha Croaker, a Sydney based broadcaster, reported a friend’s excitement: “Wow! This is a movie set. This is a James Bond house. You could have a catwalk here! Models! In gorgeous gowns. Maybe we could buy it!”. The house is currently on sale so anyone who needs a closer look is welcome to do so. Enjoy.
