Paintings by Shinyoung An
Shinyoung An has a degree of Fine Arts from Hyosung Women’s University, Daegu, South Korea but also a masters in painting from The Graduate School of Figurative Art of the New York Academy of Art. Between the two degrees was devoted under “Cercle Artistic de Sant Lluc“, Barcelona, Spain. Her work is being exposed throughout the East Coast of US but also on selected areas throughout the world such as Japan, South Korea and Spain. She has over 30 awards the most recent being the 2011 Fellowship grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. “I am interested in all kinds of visual art based on reality. I seek to find the truth in the human form and to translate that into my own vision of natural beauty” she explains. In this project she used oil on prepared newspaper mounted on canvas. The frame to work on was unique and had the flexibility to explore on every day instances through the lens of her own perspectives. The result is impressive. Enjoy.
