A family that was living in the house was staying for almost 8 years. As their children became older they needed to have a more spacious shelter but they did not want to leave the neighbourhood. Andrew Maynard Architects did something extremely difficult with impressive results: expanded the existing house being 4.5 meters wide. They relocated the kitchen, bathroom and dining room in a way the available space is more useful. They also created the master bedroom upstairs by expanding the existing room in the two boxes above the back yard.
Apart from the renovation of the house they preserved the Japanese Maple Tree and now is visible from everywhere in the house. I would definitely love to see this installation with my own eyes.
