Idols by Hamra Abbas
Ordinary people become idols through the eyes of artist Hamra Abbas. These sculptures were created after a long assessment of the current society as far as the economic process is concerned. Unemployment and economic slowdown, being prominent nowadays, is two elements and having them as a prerequisite people interact one another. The artist interacted with workers in post offices, restaurants, supermarkets, deli stores, construction sites even with taxi drivers. The places are diverse: Cambridge, Boston, Istanbul. She photographed them and having the photos as a reference created these wonderful sculptures. Enjoy.
