Song 88: I Drove All Night – Cyndi Lauper

This is the second song from Cyndi Luaper, after Time After Time, the first performed by herself. The song was first introduced to me by watching the series (yes, some time ago!) Beverly Hills, 90210. From then on it was not one of the songs I was actively listening, though whenever showing it in the radio or anywhere else I did not bypass it, liking the rhythm and the lyrics.

Lauper recorded the song because she liked the idea “of a woman driving, of a woman in control“. The feeling of the song is liberating and at the same time a song from reflection. A love song with a twist. Enjoy.

I had to escape
The city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you
