Song 86: Susheela Raman – Mamavatu

Susheela Raman is a Britsh Indian musiscian with origins from india and bringing up in Australia. “Raman is known for energetic, vibrant, syncretic, and uplifting live performances built on the sacred Bhakti and Sufi traditions of India and Pakistan.“.

Her first album, Salt Rain, was released in 2001 having a world flavour. It was bought by me in the iconic HMV, Oxford Str. There was some great songs, but two were shining: Maya and Mamavatu. “No doubt about it, Salt Rain is truly a mix of East and West, as Raman sought out producer Sam Mills after hearing his work with Bengali singer Paban Das Baul.AllMusic suggests. Enjoy.
