Song 85: Cassandra Wilson – Time After Time

Cyndi Lauper was the songwriter responsible for Time After Time song. It was first released at her debut album, She’s So Unusual, reaching number-one single on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart on June 9, 1984. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year at the 1985 edition.

Cassandra Willson , “a singer blessed with an unmistakable timbre and attack [who has] expanded the playing field” was re-issued the song through her album Traveling Miles. An album bought at HMV, Oxford Str. and still in my mind. Her voice, especially through this song, is spectacular. Enjoy.

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles
Confusion is nothing new
