Brett Kern is an American artist based in West Virginia. He had studied graphic design though later he was absorbed by ceramics. He uses clay to create his artwork and then glaze to be appeared polished.

These ceramic dinosaurs seems like inflatable items, yet Kern mimics this process by ‘fossilizing’ the dinosaurs. “I find that the mold-making process imitates, in a certain way, the fossilization process. Objects are covered in a material that captures their shape and texture and this, in turn, preserves the object as a rock-like representation.” he explains. The result is extraordinary. His work is available here. Enjoy.
