Architects commissioned for this project were Moloney Architects. It is a small office in Ballarat, Victoria founded by Mick and Jules Moloney in 2007. “We create buildings that are contemporary, sustainable, honest to materials, and responsive to context.” they explain. And if one goes deeper in the house featured in this article what expressed by the architects is very true.

The house resides in the city of Ballarat, a small city one hour drive from Melbourne. It has a four-meter high ceilings creating a better perspective within the house. Originally the house had four large rooms with ornate cornices at the ceilings. The client needed to create an open area having kitchen, living room and dining area all in one place.

By watching the images (courtesy of Hillary Bradford ) the result is impressive. The extension was created at the rear of the house not disturbing the faceade. It has the same height as the original house but the big modern windows create some new input for the user. Old and new are blended elegantly. Enjoy.
